Vacuum Insulation Panels

Vacuum Insulation Panels are five to ten times thinner than conventional insulation materials used in building with the same heat transfer coefficient.

Left and right justified. Titles of the different sections (All Caps) and sub-sections (lower case) to be numbered, bold and justified to the left, Arial, 11pt (e.g.: 2. THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIP, 2.1. The invention of VIP)

Citations with References:

References to be indicated in the text by referring to the author(s) and year of publication, e.g. Ogden and Kendrick presented the applications of VIP for the cladding of industrial or commercial buildings (Ogden and Kendrick, 2005).

When a sentence is quoted, reference to be indicated in the text by referring to the author(s), year of publication and page from where sentence was quoted, e.g. 'The need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions demands more energy-efficient materials and technologies for applications in buildings' (Wang et al., 2007, p.151)

In case of more than two authors for a reference, the format to be: (Wang et al., 2007)

Bibliography:

It should include name of author(s) and initials (Author(s) in capitals, surname first, then initials, title of paper in lower case, title of a book in italics and followed by publisher and place of publication. Name of a journal to be quoted either in full or using the correct abbreviation (if known). Volume number in bold and issue number in parenthesis() followed by date of publication and page number. Arial, 11pt. Refer to following examples:

Book: OGDEN, R. and HENLEY, R. Interfaces: Connections between steel and other materials, Steel Construction Institute, Ascot, 1996.

Explanatory notes:

When necessary these can be provided as footnotes, but kept to a minimum, and listed in the order they are referred to in the text.

Tables and figures:

These should be kept to a maximum of 6 in total. They should be centred and clearly referred to in the text in order of appearance, e.g. (Table 1), (Figure 1), etc. Figures and tables must be sized appropriately to enable legibility. All illustrations (tables and figures) must clearly be identified and have a descriptive caption, Arial 9pt, left justified. Captions should be at the top of a table and below a figure.

Format:

Papers should be drafted on A4 pages (297mm x 210mm format) with 25mm top and bottom margins, and 30mm left and right margins.

Copyright:

Should author(s) need to include material not their copyright, besides giving appropriate acknowledgement by way of referencing, they should seek permission from the copyright holder to reproduce the material in the proceedings.

PRESENTATIONS:

PowerPoint presentations must be compiled in any suitable background and should be provided to the Conference Secretary in standard format. Electronic copies of the PowerPoint presentation must be sent to the Conference Secretary, Dr Bousmaha Baiche at ivisnet@brookes.ac.uk, by the end of August at the latest.

POSTERS:

Posters must be 900mm high by 600mm wide. Each author will be allocated up to six display panels (900mm high by 600mm wide) to present their work. The author is not required to produce more than one panel (900mmx600mm) but could, if they wish to, make up to six panels and have a whole screen to display their work. Electronic copies of the posters must be sent to the Conference Secretary, Dr Bousmaha Baiche at ivisnet@brookes.ac.uk, by the end of August at the latest.

Authors are requested to use the conference logo to brand their presentations and papers as IVIS 2009. The logos are downloadable from the IVIS 2009 conference website, i.e. from the 'Media' page of the website.
